Industry: Police Director Sues Miami CBS Channel

The Miami Herald reports the Miami Dade Police Director has sued a local Miami TV station after it reported the police director's son was arrested for armed robbery. The reporter who covered the story claimed to have called the police director, but was told simply that the story was not true. Gary Nelson, the reporter, issued an on-air apology recently. The report aired back in early October 2006. One of the police director's lawyers has asked for $500,000 in settlement funds.
